Hamkam signs defender from Sandefjord. Martin Gjone (20) has signed for Hamkam after being part of Sandefjord's squad.

What happened?

Gjone has for a long time been considered a great defensive talent and has international experience with the U20 national team. He was involved in twelve games in the Eliteserien last year, but only six of them were from the start.

Why is this important for Hamkam?

The transfer may be an answer to the tense conflict with defender Luc Mares, who at one point went on strike because he wanted a transfer to MLS club Montreal. Now Mares is back on the training field.

What comes next?

With Gjone on the way in, it's more likely that Mares won't wear the Hamkam jersey again in a game situation. The total package for the transfer is around one and a half million kroner, and Sandefjord has secured resale percentages.
